Birthkeeper information & sharing sessions - 2019
Are you a keeper of birth in occupation, study and heart? Are you feeling the pull to commune in story-telling and knowledge gathering?
We are welcoming all birthworkers and students, midwives, doulas, educators, maternal & child health nurses, photographers, acupuncturist and any other workers in birth to be a part of a monthly session that will support your continuing information building and offer you a safe forum to share your stories in debrief and offering. Each month we will offer a topic and invite a guest to impart their wisdom on that topic. For a small offering of $5 for the venue, we aim to make this evening as attainable as we can for all to attend. Some chairs, bolsters and cushions will be provided. Bring any other comfort measures and documenting tools to help facilitate growth in your practice. |
When:
Last Friday of the month 6:30pm - optional pre dinner ~ BYO dinner to share 7pm - 10:00pm session

Solidarity Circle
Adapted from the work of Vikki Reynolds Phd, The Solidarity Circle is an alternative to one-on-one supervision. It utilizes a model where “the circle” becomes like an intentional community for the purpose of assisting participants to reconnect with self and validate them and reconnect them to their purpose and their values. It is a method that has been mostly used for Social Workers and Therapists who work in the community, however, I included it in a one-day workshop that I designed for Family Violence workers in 2018 and I have wanted to offer this to a community of birth workers ever since. The workshop I designed for Family Violence workers was to assist workers to build practices of self-care and sustainability due to the high rates of burnout and vicarious trauma that they are experiencing. Some of the people who participated in the workshop that day have gone on to create their own monthly Solidarity Circles from this event.
*The activity will require participation and I will be asking for volunteers to be in the seat of the participant receiving from myself and the group. Nobody will be asked to participate at any level that they don’t’ feel comfortable with.
